명망(明網) 보살은 진실함을 닦습니다. 그들은 거짓 없이 참됨을 닦습니다. 가식이 없고, 속임수도 없습니다. 진실함을 참으로 닦으면 남을 조종하거나 꾸미지 않습니다. 그렇게 할 때 자신의 참된 본성이 드러나게 됩니다. 그는 진실함 속에 머무르며, 누구에게도 아무것도 바라지 않고, 그 누구에게도 의지하지 않습니다. 진실 속에 머물면 머물수록, 그의 불성이 더욱 또렷하게 드러납니다.
번뇌가 자주 일어난다면, 그것은 마(魔)에게 사로잡힌 것입니다. 주위 사람들이 번뇌롭더라도 자신이 완전히 번뇌가 없을 때, 사람들이 지혜를 여는데 도움이 됩니다.
자재(自在)란 스스로 완전히 만족하며, 다른 사람에게서 아무것도 필요로 하지 않는 상태를 말합니다.
明網菩薩cultivate truthfulness. They cultivate being true — without any pretense. When you genuinely cultivate truthfulness, you don't manipulate or fake anything. Then, your true nature will manifest. He abides in truth, seeks nothing from anyone, and depends on no one whatsoever. The more he stays in truth, the clearer his Buddha nature becomes to him.
If you are frequently afflicted, it means you are being possessed by demons. When you are completely free from afflictions, even when people around you are afflicted, it helps open their wisdom.
Self-mastery means you are perfectly content by yourself and need nothing from others.
